Mar 31, 2006 - 05:02 AM
"The La Ca?ada Flintridge City Council has granted a permit to Dreamworks Studios to film on Foothill Boulevard next week.

The permit request went to the council because it asked for activities in the early morning hours on April 5 and 6, not allowed under city rules.

The film, ""Blades of Glory,"" which stars Will Ferrell, Jon Heder and Amy Poehler, is the story of two ice skating rivals who team up.

Filming is scheduled at a school district building at 4490 Cornishon Ave. beginning next Tuesday, with parking on Foothill, crew parking at the United Artists Theater lot and catering at the Church of the Lighted Window.

The council approved the permit because school will be closed next week for spring break. Two sheriff's deputies and a security guard will be hired by the company. The film company will pay $4,640 in fees to the city.

Ben Stiller's Red Four Films will produce the film which follows the story is about a pair of world-class men's figure skaters who are banned from the sport following their disgraceful brawl during the Winter Games in Salt Lake City. After three years of toiling in obscurity, they attempt to put aside their feud and exploit a loophole in their suspension, partnering to compete in the only category open to them -- pairs figure skating.
