DreamWorks News: D'Works Scores More Nominations
Jan 17, 2006 - 03:39 AM
"The American Cinema Editors have announced their annual nominees for the 'Best Editing of Dramatic Feature'. This year Michael Kahn recognized for his work on 'Munich'. That nomination is epecially significant considering that The American Cinema Editors Awards are a great indicator of Oscar favorites and it is not uncommon for three or four of the future best picture nominees to be found on their list of nominees.

In other awards news, the Ohio Film Critic's society has chosen 'Munich' and 'Wallace and Gromit in the Curse of the Were-Rabbit' as two of their 10 best films of the year. 'Munich' also won their 'Best Ensemble' award, while 'War of the Worlds' won for 'Best Sound Design'.

Meanwhile, the Online Film Critics have nominated 'Munich' in three categories, including best movie, 'Best Director' for Steven Spielberg and 'Best Adapted Screenplay' Tony Kushner & Eric Roth. 'Wallace & Gromit in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit' won the award for the 'Best Animated Feature'.

The Costume Guild of America nominated 'Memoirs of a Geisha' and Colleen Atwood for ""Excellence In Period Film"" in recognition for her artistic talents.

This Friday, Steven Spielberg attended luncheon hosted by American Film Institute?s AFI Awards 2005 this past to accept an award for 'Munich'. The movie was as one of 2005?s official selections for 'Movie of the Year'.

AFI has this to say about the movie and it's filmmaker: ??Munich? reminds us how lucky we are to live in the time when Steven Spielberg is making movies. This is another landmark contribution to American film from one of its master storytellers. The movie asks difficult questions about the moral complexities of vengeance--and who, ultimately, stands proud in the name of family and home. Great movies stir great debate, and that Spielberg would embrace such a controversial subject and present it as a prayer for peace is as brave and bold a move as we would expect from one of this country's great artists.?
