DreamWorks News: DreamWorks Box Office: The First Half

"Not certainly the best but definitely better than past few years, DreamWorks box office is on a rise this year.

The studio's first film of the year /www.dreamworksfansite.com/ring2"">Ring 2 ended it's reign with $76 million at domestic box office meanwhile pulling in an impressive $84 million over seas, taking the grand total to $160 million.

Their release of /animation.dreamworksfansite.com/madagascar/"">Madagascar was no less. It's domestic earnings stand at $190 million, which makes it studios third highest grossing animated feature (behind /animation.dreamworksfansite.com/shrek/"">Shrek and /animation.dreamworksfansite.com/shrek2/"">Shrek 2). The overseas cume now stands at $266 million which puts the the film at $456 million worldwide.

DreamWorks joined production with Paramount on /www.dreamworksfansite.com/waroftheworlds/"">War of the Worlds and Warner Bros on /www.dreamworksfansite.com/theisland/"">The Island have also helped make the studio's box office better. The Steven Spielberg epic has grossed $569 million worldwide ($230 m domestic, $340 overseas) and Michael Bay's best film to date has earned $120 ($35 m domestic, $85 overseas).

The studio's latest film /www.dreamworksfansite.com/redeye"">Red Eye has also done well. By the end of this weekend, it's estimate will be at $31 million.

There are still more than half a dozen films to come including Just Like Heaven, The Prize Winner of Defiance, Ohio, /animation.dreamworksfansite.com/wallaceandgromit/"">Wallace and Gromt Movie, /www.dreamworksfansite.com/dreamer/"">Dreamer, Match Point, /www.dreamworksfansite.com/geisha/"">Memoirs of a Geisha and /www.dreamworksfansite.com/munich/"">Munich.

By December 31st, 2005, it could very well be one of the best year for DreamWorks."
