An emotional packed trailer with what looks to be some brilliant performances from the leading cast including Cruise, Fanning and Robbins.
If you are expecting to walk into theatres and see mindless Aliens shooting people down, I suggest you pack your bags and go hiking. This film is not just about alien invasion and how we unite in the time of war but rather how chaos breaks and insanity takes over as we search for our loved ones. The part where Cruise says
where's my son with a gun in his hand is a perfect example. That's the beauty of Spielberg. He takes simple lines and makes them so powerful with mesmerizing performances.
Then comes the Tim Robbins part.
They've been planning this for a millions year and those are the only first, they will keep coming gave me shivers. Not to mention the fearful look on his face and eyes.
Last but not least, where Cruise holds his son Chatwin to the ground and says
I know you wanna fight...but you don't is a tear jerker. I happened to be present when that was being filmed during my set visit in L.A. and even then that line had an emotional impact on me.
I am very glad that this new trailer didn't reveal much more than what we have already seen with the exception of few minor shots.
I have been a movie buff since
Jurassic Park and since then
War of the Worlds is by far the most anticipated film for me. The difference is, I waited for
Jurassic Park to come on video to 16 months since I wasn't allowed to go to the theatre and now waiting for this film which will make people forget Raptors and T-Rex.
Well done Paramount, Mr. Spielberg, Mr. Cruise and Little Fanning.
