DreamWorks News: MPAA Denies 'Norbit' PG-13 Rating
Jan 09, 2007 - 12:13 AM
DreamWorks perceived 'Norbit' as a family-friendly PG-13 comedy but the MPAA ratings board apparently saw something different.

The Classification & Rating Administration (CARA) gave the romantic comedy a more restrictive R rating for ""some sex-related humor."" An attempt by ?Norbit? director Brian Robbins and the two studios to appeal the R rating was denied on Tuesday.

At this point, the film is technically unrated. Paramount said it will tinker with the footage and resubmit a cleaner version to the MPAA in hopes of getting a PG-13 rating.

The film ? which stars Murphy as the mild-mannered fianc? of a monstrous woman before meeting the woman of his dreams and scheming to be with her instead ? is scheduled to arrive in theaters on Feb. 9.
