DreamWorks News: Montecito Picture Signs 10 Picture Deal
Aug 15, 2006 - 03:22 PM
"The Montecito Picture Co.has raised $200 million to co-finance 10 motion pictures over the next five years, Montecito principals Tom Pollock and Ivan Reitman said Monday.

The producers' new financing vehicle, to be called Cold Spring Picture Llc., will have a first-look agreement with DreamWorks Studios, where the Montecito partners have just struck a new five-year, first-look agreement, which extends an older three-year deal that was about to expire.

Since 2000, DreamWorks has released the Montecito comedies ""Road Trip,"" ""Old School,"" ""Eurotrip"" and ""Evolution.""

The first of the 10 Cold Spring pictures, D.J. Caruso's thriller ""Disturbia,"" starring Shia LaBeouf, David Morse, Carrie-Anne Moss and Sarah Roemer, recently completed principal photography. DreamWorks plans a 2007 release through its parent company, Paramount Pictures.

Pollock said the Cold Spring co-financing arrangement has been in the works for some time, well before Paramount's acquisition of DreamWorks this year.

Montecito chose to renew its relationship with DreamWorks because it has about 10 pictures in development there. Using the new Cold Spring production fund, Montecito will share production costs 50-50 on its new slate of films with DreamWorks, and the companies will share ownership of the films' copyrights."
