"Newsweek has posted their annual roundtable with five directors nominated for this year's DGA Award, where they talked about passion, fear, politics, Oscar ads and crying at the movies.
The impressive gathering of all five nominees -- Steven Spielberg, Ang Lee, George Clooney, Paul Haggis and Bennett Miller - at the DGA's annual meet-the-nominee breakfast Saturday gave the filmmakers a chance to reflect on their projects at the guild's Los Angeles headquarters.
In tackling topics both complex and controversial, the five directors nominated said they ultimately found more motivation and reward in raising difficult questions than trying to make statements.
