War of the Worlds movie exploits the vulnerability of Americans after September 11 and wouldn't have been made if the terrorist attacks hadn't happened.
During a tough interview with German magazine SPIEGEL, the OSCAR-winning director also conceded the upcoming epic, which stars Tom Cruise, wouldn't have been made had the terrorist attacks on New York and Washington DC not taken place.
When asked,
Would you have made the film if September 11 had not happened? Spielberg replied,
Probably not, adding now is
a time when American's feel deeply vulnerable.
He was then asked,
Won't this film actually heighten that sense of vulnerability? replying,
It probably will.
