That expectation of a new adventure with a great author captured all the book lovers and library supporters who are members of the 2007 Peggy V. Helmerich Distinguished Author Award committee during a luncheon at Southern Hills Country Club's Snug Harbor.
The group gathered to learn more about this year's Distinguished Author Award recipient, Thomas Keneally, author of the award-winning "Schindler's List." Keneally will be here Dec. 7 to accept the award during a black-tie dinner at Central Library. He will also present a free public lecture on Dec. 8.
To prepare for Keneally's visit to Tulsa, the Circle Cinema is presenting a free screening of Steven Spielberg's award-winning 1993 motion picture "Schindler's List," based on Keneally's novel. It will be shown at 2 p.m. Dec. 2 at the Circle Cinema, 12 S. Lewis Ave.
The film showing is presented by the Circle Cinema in partnership with the Tulsa City-County Library System, Tulsa Library Trust and the Council for Holocaust Education.
Cost to attend the Dec. 7 dinner is 0 per person and seating is limited. For more information or to order tickets, contact Larry Bartley at 596-7985.
